Our first little boy, Parker Elijah Gibitz, was born two weeks ago today!! He is in my lap as I type this.
We are big fans of him!
For those of you I haven’t talked with since Christmas, happy new year! Abbie and I are believing that 2012 is going to be the best yet! Our baby is close to being born, so be praying for that! We’ll tell you when he/she is here!
I wanted to give you a quick thought to be thinking about. It’s something that God has been dealing with me about for a few days now. Think about this:
A leader leads long before ever having followers.
If you don’t think you’re a leader in anything, don’t turn me off just yet! Whether you like it or not, someone is following you.
I have found in my life that I’ve been waiting to have followers before I lead people in worship or write new music. I’m always looking to see that what I’m doing is satisfactory before I ever do it. That is the wrong way to lead! That gets people nowhere fast. Think about it. If you want to shine in what you’re called to do, you will need to lead, and the best leaders don’t wait until people are following them to start leading.
Take your eyes off of yourself & off of other people, and get them focused on Jesus.
The only way you are going to walk in your calling and lead those who you are called to influence is by walking in your calling before anyone is ever looking.
Are you a musician? A songwriter?
Are you a worship leader?
Worship in your bedroom!
Are you someone who loves to sit with the elderly?
Go sit with them, and love on them!
Before anyone ever follows your lead–before anyone ever wants to be influenced by you–you need to show them that you are worth following. Are you walking according to the Word? Are you walking in the light as He is in the light? Are you walking in what He is calling you to do?
Start walking. It’s time to lead.
